A MESSAGE FROM TOM MAHALA, PRESIDENT
I launched Layton Road Group, LLC in late 2017 with the belief that there was a better way to offer capital introduction services to alternative investment managers, institutional investors and prime brokerage divisions within investment banks. On January 2, 2018 my belief became a reality, as Layton Road Group was engaged to provide capital introduction services for BNP Paribas Prime Services clients. As a 10-year veteran of BNP Paribas, where I most recently served as the Global Head of Capital Introduction and formerly, Deputy Head of Prime Brokerage Sales, I will leverage almost 30 years of prime brokerage experience to provide a meaningful and impactful menu of capital introduction services to Alternative Investment Managers, Institutional Investors and other Investment Banks. These services range from capital introduction, to placement agent services, to targeted events, and novel outsourced solutions for the prime brokerage industry. Today, Layton Road Group consists of six professionals situated in multiple geographies, with diverse capital markets, asset management and capital introduction backgrounds, engaged in thoughtful and consultative interactions with the various constituents in the alternative investment management industry. TOM MAHALA, President of Layton Road Group, LLC
Tom graduated from Wagner College in 1983, where he was a member of the Men’s Division I Basketball and Golf teams. He began his career at Deloitte & Touche, a large public accounting and consulting firm before moving to the floor of the American Stock Exchange as a member for Drexel Burnham Lambert. Mr. Mahala left the floor of the AMEX to join Bear Stearns’ Prime Brokerage team in the early 90’s and returned in 2001 after a brief stint as an institutional equity salesman and later as a Director in the Capital Markets consulting practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Tom re-joined Bear Stearns to pioneer the firms Hedge Fund Relationship Management team, known as ‘Calling Officers’.
Tom personally covered many of Bears’ top 25 hedge fund relationships that represented approximately $250 bil in AUM. Tom left Bear Stearns in 2007 to join Banc of America Securities to lead the Hedge Fund Senior Relationship Management team. Mr. Mahala moved to BNP Paribas after its 2008 acquisition of Banc of America’s prime brokerage business.
Tom has led several businesses at BNP Paribas including; Head of Americas, Hedge Fund Relationship Management team, Deputy Head of Prime Brokerage Sales and Global Head of Capital Introduction. Tom has been married for 26 years and is the father of 7 boys, ages 11 to 24 and a 9-year old daughter. He and his wife Bonnie live in Far Hills NJ.
JIM CAMPBELL, Managing Director
Jim Campbell joins Layton Road Group, LLC as a Managing Director and founding member of the team. Jim brings extensive capital introduction and fund servicing experience to the team. He is responsible for supporting and supervising the performance and professional development of the Firm’s Capital Introduction team.
Jim joined Layton Road after seven years at BNP Paribas, where he was a member of the Investor Capital Services team.
He has covered investors and managers in New York, Boston, Toronto, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Montreal, and Washington D.C. He has covered a wide range of fund strategies and investors. Prior to joining the Investor Capital Services team, Jim worked on the BNP Paribas Structured Credit Sales desk on various CLO and esoteric ABS transactions. Jim initially joined BNP Paribas in the Hedge Fund Risk Management Group where he helped onboard hedge fund clients, negotiated ISDAs, and set and monitored credit limits.
Mr. Campbell began his career as an analyst in the Fixed Income Division Credit Suisse where he supported the CLO Marketing team.
Jim earned his B.A. in Accounting, from Franciscan University of Steubenville, and his M.B.A. from Georgetown University.
DAVID FEIGENBAUM, Managing Director
David Feigenbaum joins Layton Road Group, LLC as a Managing Director and founding member of the team. He brings extensive capital markets and asset management experience, spanning equities, credit, structured credit and private equity experience. At Layton Road, David will work with institutional investors, connecting them with alternative investment managers on the Layton Road platform. In addition, he will drive new business development and build strategic partnerships, particularly around the Layton Road technology platform.
David joins Layton Road Group from Lily Pond Capital Management, a boutique private equity manager, where he was Director of Research. There, he sourced and performed due diligence on alternative investment management companies as potential investments, built marketing materials and operational models and developed relationships with institutional investors and strategic affiliates.
Prior to Lily Pond, David worked at BlackRock for five years, where he was a Director, holding senior roles in the Global Credit and iShares ETF businesses. As Head of the Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) Product Strategy Team, David led business strategy, product development, marketing and investor relations for the Magnetite CLO issuance and Tranche Investing businesses. He also sat on the CLO Risk Committee. Previously, David was an iShares ETF Senior Business Development Officer, working with institutional asset managers and family offices.
Prior to BlackRock, David was VP of Institutional Equity Sales at Bank of America Merrill Lynch for eight years, covering large hedge funds and asset managers. He began his career as an investment banking Analyst at Deutsche Bank, focused on advisory and financing work for healthcare services companies.
David graduated from Williams College with a B.A. in Political Economy
DANIEL COHEN, Managing Director
Daniel joins Layton Road Group, LLC as a Managing Director. He brings extensive experience, spanning multiple investment strategies, having worked in various prime services functions including risk, financing, capital introduction and the construction of operating infrastructure. Daniel will work with institutional investors, connecting them with alternative investment managers on the Layton Road platform.
Daniel joins Layton Road Group from Cantor Fitzgerald, where he was head of their West Coast prime brokerage business. At Cantor, he helped establish and grow the prime brokerage business from its inception in 2010. His responsibilities included sales, senior client relationship management, capital introduction services and fixed income and equity portfolio finance.
Prior to Cantor, Daniel worked at Bear Stearns and later, J.P. Morgan, for over a decade in their prime brokerage unit where he was a Managing Director, holding senior roles in the Risk Management Group as well as in Sales. Daniel co-ran the West Coast sales effort from 2007-2010. He personally covered accounts that managed over $100 billion in aggregate AUM. Daniel was a member of the Risk Management team from 1999-2006. Throughout his tenure in risk, Daniel was responsible for assigning and monitoring leverage levels for the most complex and highly levered clients of the firm. Covered strategies included: volatility arbitrage, convertible arbitrage, high frequency trading, statistical arbitrage, merger arbitrage, corporate credit, credit relative value and structured products. During that time, Daniel spent two years in London, which included running the European prime brokerage Risk Management team in 2003.

JOHN SERVICE, CAIA, Director
John joins Layton Road Group, LLC as a Director and founding member of the team. John is a current member of CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) and brings many years of experience as an allocator to hedge funds. He is responsible for supporting the performance and development of the Firm’s Capital Introduction team.
Prior to joining Layton Road, John served as a Head of Investments at IGW Trust where he lead the investment program driving asset allocation with a focus on alternative investments. Before joining IGW Trust, John was a Portfolio Manager at Slome Capital LLC, a single-family office. In his role at Slome Capital LLC, he helped oversee the investment portfolio – allocating to a wide variety of alternative strategies. Prior to joining Slome Capital LLC, he served as a Portfolio Manager at Portland House Advisors Inc., the investment arm of a large single-family office where he focused on the external manager investment portfolio. John was also a Portfolio Manager and Investment Committee Member at ThreeAM Inc., a Fund of Hedge Funds.
John developed his deep alternative investment experience while serving as a Director and Head of Hedge Fund Structured Products at Wachovia Securities, a business he launched after several years at RBC Capital Markets where he also served as a Director in the Alternative Assets Group.
John received a B.A. in Economics from Gettysburg College.
LINDSEY DOUGLAS, Director
Lindsey joins Layton Road Group, LLC as a Director and founding member of the Layton Road Group LLC. She has extensive alternative investment manager capital introduction, sales and marketing experience. At Layton Road, she is responsible for supporting the performance and professional development of the Firm’s Capital Introduction team.
Prior to joining Layton Road, Lindsey has spent five years as the Director of Marketing at Profor Advisors, where she continues to cover a significant number of institutional and high net worth investors. She has successfully raised capital for broad mandates and niche fund strategies alike. Strategies have included a long/short equity financials hedge fund strategy, a Greece-based fund that opportunistically trades forward freight agreements in the dry cargo shipping market, a generalist long/short equity hedge fund, an agency credit CRT hedge fund, an event-driven long/short credit hedge fund, and a number of different private equity strategies ranging from an India focused growth equity fund, to a specialty finance fund, to a special situations/distressed fund.
Prior to joining Profor, Lindsey worked in Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Fixed Income Division, selling municipal products to hedge funds, mutual funds, insurance companies and banks. She began her career in 2006 at Morgan Stanley as a registered representative in the Ultra High Net Worth space of the Private Wealth Management Group.
Lindsey graduated cum laude from Tulane University with a B.S. in Management with majors in Finance, Accounting and Economics.
DAN SHERIDAN, Associate
Dan joins the team as an Associate and founding member of Layton Road Group, LLC. He is responsible for supporting the performance and professional development of the Firm’s Capital Introduction team.Dan joined the Layton Road team after two and a half years at the Frank Recruitment Group, an award winning, multi-brand global recruitment firm, backed by TPG Growth – one of the world’s largest and most successful private equity firms. Dan delivered consulting services to niche technology channel partners, SME and Enterprise organizations in the Microsoft and AWS ecosystems, while coordinating with the firms’ European, Asia and Australia offices.
Dan graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego with a B.A. in Global and International Studies with a specialization in Economics and a minor in Spanish.
